Long Beach to Garibaldi- 85m

I'm losing track of where we've been each day already (I have been going through the list as we did Jan but it's blurring!)

This morning we deviated off the route to, optimistically, see what Cape Disappointment had to offer. So glad we did! A fun hilly few miles, with this wonderful creature in someone's front yard on the way:
Then we were soon peering over the edge and Pierre spotted a bald eagle!
Wow!!
A first sighting of a raccoon (albeit dead) completed the trio of nature spots.

Beaming away we zipped along, soon back on the route towards the Astoria Bridge. 4.2miles of it!
With stern instructions from the boss to stay focused I made it across, with a cheery workman giving us priority and wishing us both a nice day. Thanks, we will!
We then followed the Lewis and Clark road for a fabulously undulating few miles, feeling like lycra clad pioneers ourselves.
We've encountered our first few little tunnels- as cyclists you get to press a button before entering and lights flash at the entrance to warn drivers you're in there pedalling away! Hearing a truck coming up behind is quite adrenaline-inducing in there.
A quick stop at Seaside for a sturdy scone. The waffle from breakfast had worn off long ago and I was having a bit of a tiredy day today.
Some good ups and downs for the last 30miles and it felt like luck was with us as we dodged the dreaded 'r' word and the sea mist.

We followed the railroad in to Garibaldi and so this one is for you dad (and for tolerating some of my new-found vocabulary!)
