To navigate our way through rush hour we'd all felt happier to ride in a group, with big Steve fronting the (now, rather select size) pack.
Note my new roomie getting an early morning sprinkling when she decided to fill her bottle with a nearby hose!
After a few miles we reached Golden Gate Park which was a beautiful green space, so clean and sprawling, with plenty of morning runners (and shufflers).
The supersizers are noticably less in the city and more affluent areas. Diet related health issues are going to cull a large proportion of this country over the next few decades I would guess.
It was a delight to be back next to the now familiar ocean, a real sense of being back where we belong. Albeit significantly missing mon cheri.
Map reading was a good focus for my holiday-esque brain cells and no snags or deviations, yet!
We went through a couple of towns of a few thousand inhabitants (the city entry signs tell you what the pop. is). But otherwise just nature on Highway 1.
We might spy some whales again soon, as Geoff pointed out he'll feel right at home (!)

As we headed for Davenport we passed a number of berry farms and organic growing seems fairly common now we're in California. Organic Valley seem to use a number of the farms I've noticed.
Pumpkins have become almost as popular as pelicans!
20miles from Davenport my feet were killing, cooking in their shoe ovens. And then I realised the remedy was there, shimmering with it's invigorating properties:
