Marina to Carmel-27m

A lovely deep sleep, dreaming of sprouts and artichokes and then it was time to potter our way along the bike path towards Carmel (famous for Clint being Mayor).
A leisurely day was in store, which, with the heat of yesterday promised again (it was 43 out on those strawberry fields apparently!) was most welcome.
A few miles of bike path, separate again from the road and I was at Monterey. I had totally underestimated what delights were in store today, it was a nature bonanza!
Fisherman's Wharf is a very pleasant quayside and perfect for a dismount and explore. This super cute sea otter performed wonderfully, diving down then lying on his back to eat his treat!
The noise from this rabble was brilliant, perhaps my favourite noise of the trip so far.
A large man who was on a team building trip, whale watching, then kindly pointed out these two below:
As I meandered back there were pelicans a plenty:
Monterey is a lovely place. Cycling along Oceanview Drive the houses were almost as captivating as the wildlife. This is not a hard up area. And the first of the super skinnies appeared, jogging along, with legs like pelicans.  You won't get up Big Sur with those I thought.
I passed the creche and then on towards Pebble Beach.
Pebble Beach is very up market indeed. Houses are mansions behind gates and long driveways. Here is an example!
I had to stop for a smoothie, it was getting sweltering and I had started daydreaming about green smoothies, which is always a sign :-)
I found a nice bench under a lovely tree and watched rich golfers come and go for a while. Then, feeling refreshed set off. I think my brain had a momentary disengage as I accidentally went off route and cycled up Carmel Hill. Was more fun whizzing back down again!
Carmel is rather smart and brimming with expensive boutiques and people who frequent those sort of shops and art galleries. And there might be an odd cyclist, with two tone legs thrown in the mix.
Not a corn dog in sight!
Just these two, running themselves ragged again!
